Reiki and Medicine

I don't want people getting the idea that I am anti-conventional medicine. I'm actually in favor of anything that works and is safe and effective. For the most part, Western medicine is safe and effective when used responsibly.

Reiki is never intended to replace conventional medicine, which is why it is referred to as "Complementary Alternative Medicine," or CAM. Reiki is used to enhance treatment outcomes, to complement conventional medicine, and to boost the healing effects of medicine through energy work. It is safe to use and has no contraindications.

Such is the case with mental illnesses and disorders. When working with clients who suffer from any kind of issue, Reiki can be used to help the client de-stress and be more open to interventions used by therapists.

Reiki is useful with conditions such as autism, depression, panic disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder when used in conjunction with traditional interventions. Reiki can help clients get past "stuck points" or impasse, which enhances the outcomes of treatment. It is also useful for healing past trauma, and helping subdue recent trauma so that the necessary work can be completed through conventional therapeutic means.

Reiki can enhance so many aspects of mind, body, and spirit with its gentle vibrations, and can be used with any medicine or intervention. The next time you seek treatment for something, think about adding Reiki to your routine. It might make the experience even better than you expected.

To your health,
The Transpersonal Psychologist
